Jeddah Airport Terminal 4 is the building at King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) that the airport has redeveloped for international low-cost carriers. If your ticket or airline app says you land at Terminal 4, book your onward car to “King Abdulaziz International Airport” in the transfer finder, give your flight number at checkout, write “Terminal 4” and the airline’s name in the booking notes, and set a pickup time that leaves room for passport control and baggage. Those four details, plus booking at least 48 hours ahead, are what turn a budget flight into a calm arrival.
This guide is for travellers flying into Jeddah on a budget international airline, and for anyone booking the ride for a relative who is. It explains what Terminal 4 is and where the name came from, how to confirm that your flight really uses it, what goes into the booking, how the free waiting allowance works from the booked time, how to choose a vehicle when a low-cost fare has limited your bags, and what to do if the flight moves. A comparison table, a worked example with an ordinary family and a numbered checklist follow.

What is Jeddah Airport Terminal 4?
In a press release dated 6 January 2026, KAIA announced Terminal 4 as the former South Terminal, redeveloped as a dedicated international terminal. The airport describes it as dedicated to serving international low-cost carriers, with capacity for up to 15 million passengers a year.
The same release lists the main facilities:
- a terminal area of about 97,000 square metres;
- 62 check-in counters and 66 passport control counters;
- a baggage handling system, first and business class lounges, duty free shopping, and banking and financial services;
- ground transport options including ride-hailing, taxis, shuttle buses and short-term and long-term parking.
For arrivals, the release sets out the passenger’s path in this order: arrival gates, immigration, baggage claim, customs, then a meet and greet area. That sequence matters for your car booking, because every stage before the last one happens before you can reach anyone waiting outside.
Terminal 4 and the old South Terminal name
The release says Terminal 4 was formerly the South Terminal. Some older confirmations, blog posts and relatives’ memories may still use the old name. If a document says “South Terminal” and your airline now says “Terminal 4”, treat them as the same building according to the airport, but follow whatever your airline’s latest notice tells you. If the two disagree, ask the airline which building your flight uses and write that answer in the booking.
Terminal 4 Jeddah arrivals: confirm the terminal before you book
Terminal 4 Jeddah arrivals are only relevant if your flight actually lands there. The airport’s release describes the building as serving international low-cost carriers, but it does not publish a list of airlines in that release, and we have not found an official airport page that does. We therefore do not name any airline as a Terminal 4 operator. Your airline is the authority for your flight.
Check in this order:
- Your e-ticket or booking confirmation. Many airlines print the arrival terminal next to the flight.
- The airline’s app or website, under “manage booking”, closer to the date.
- The airport’s flight information pages on kaia.sa, where arrivals and departures are listed.
- The airline’s customer service, if the first three disagree or say nothing.
Check once when you book the car, and again a few days before you fly. A notice from the airline overrides anything you read beforehand, including this article.
A domestic flight on a budget carrier is a separate case. The airport describes Terminal 4 as an international terminal. If you are flying within Saudi Arabia, do not assume Terminal 4 at all: confirm the terminal with the airline.
How Terminal 4 compares with the other Jeddah terminals
KAIA’s own pages describe several passenger facilities. The table summarises what the airport says about each, and what that means for your booking. For departures, including how to choose a drop-off time, our guide to checking the terminal for a Jeddah airport drop-off covers the outward direction.
| Terminal | What the airport says | What to write in the booking notes |
|---|---|---|
| Terminal 1 | Main hub for international and domestic flights, 46 gates, a mosque and a transit hotel | “Terminal 1”, airline, flight number |
| North Terminal | 14 gates, 54 check-in desks, 55 immigration counters | “North Terminal”, airline, flight number |
| Terminal 4 (formerly South Terminal) | Dedicated to international low-cost carriers, 62 check-in and 66 passport control counters | “Terminal 4 (former South Terminal)”, airline, flight number |
| Hajj and Umrah Complex | Specialised pilgrim facility of over half a million square metres | “Hajj and Umrah Complex”, airline, flight number, group name if any |
The first, second and fourth rows come from the airport’s About KAIA page; the Terminal 4 row comes from the airport’s January 2026 release. The About page, when we read it, did not yet describe Terminal 4, which is another reason to rely on your airline’s notice rather than on any general list.
Booking a transfer from Jeddah Airport Terminal 4
The transfer finder treats the airport as one place. Search from “Jeddah: King Abdulaziz International Airport” in the popular locations list, then add your hotel or address as the destination. After that, the booking carries the terminal in two places:
- Flight number. Checkout asks for it on airport journeys. Type it exactly as printed, including the airline’s letters.
- Booking notes. Write the terminal, the airline, and anything practical: a traveller who walks slowly, a child seat already added, a second phone number that will be switched on at landing.
Check the route summary after you pick the destination. A hotel name can match more than one property, and the summary shows which one the search has found. Our page on airport to hotel transfers in Jeddah explains the standard arrival journey.
Where the driver meets you
We do not promise a particular door, kerb or pickup lane at Terminal 4, and we do not offer name boards as a product. The release mentions a meet and greet area at the end of the arrivals path, and it lists taxis, ride-hailing and parking among the transport options, but where a pre-booked car may wait is managed by the airport on the day. Once a driver is assigned, the driver-assigned email gives the vehicle registration and meeting and waiting instructions, and you can view the vehicle photo securely in your account. Keep your phone on after landing, send a message when you reach baggage claim, and share a live location if the driver asks for one.
Choosing the pickup time for a low-cost arrival
This is the part that most often goes wrong: free waiting counts from the booked pickup time, not from the moment the aircraft lands and not from when the car arrives.
If you set the pickup for the scheduled landing time, the free minutes start while you may still be on the aircraft, then in the queue for passport control, then at the belt. The KAIA arrivals sequence of gate, immigration, baggage and customs all sits between touchdown and the kerb.
A better approach:
- Take the scheduled arrival time from your ticket, in Saudi local time (UTC+3).
- Decide how long you personally expect the arrivals path to take, given your passport, your bags, the time of day and whether you are travelling with children or an older relative. We do not quote a figure because it varies too much.
- Set the booked pickup time at that later point, not at touchdown.
- If you are unsure, add paid extra waiting at checkout rather than guessing a very late pickup.
How much free waiting each vehicle includes
The free allowance and the per-minute rate after it depend on the vehicle class. These figures appear at checkout, in the confirmation email and in the driver’s instructions.
| Vehicle class | Free waiting from booked time | Rate after that |
|---|---|---|
| Economy | 15 minutes | SAR 1.50 per minute |
| Business and Executive, VIP van (Staria), MPV family van (H1) | 30 minutes | SAR 2.00 per minute |
| Minibus (Hiace or Coaster), Coach | 30 minutes | SAR 2.50 per minute |
| Premium SUV (Tahoe or Yukon) | 45 minutes | SAR 2.50 per minute |
| Luxury (S-Class) | 60 minutes | SAR 4.00 per minute |
Adding extra waiting at checkout
Extra waiting can be added at checkout in 15-minute steps, from 15 minutes up to 2 hours (15, 30, 45, 60, 90 or 120 minutes). It is priced at the class’s per-minute rate and added to the booking, and the driver’s instructions then show the total, for example “75 min from the booked pickup time (45 min free + 30 min extra, paid)”. It suits a late arrival or a family with a pushchair. Waiting beyond what was booked is not guaranteed, so plan the booked time and the allowance together.
Low-cost airlines at Jeddah Airport and your luggage
Travellers on low-cost airlines at Jeddah Airport often arrive with a different luggage mix from full-service passengers: more cabin bags, fewer large cases, or a single shared suitcase bought as an add-on. The search asks separately for large bags and cabin bags, and the results show only vehicle classes that pass the capacity check for your party and luggage. Enter what you are really carrying, not what the airline allows.
Capacities from the live booking system (seats and large bags, examples “or similar”):
- Economy, such as a Toyota Camry class car: 4 seats, 2 large bags (3 in a Camry)
- Business and Executive: 4 seats, 3 large bags
- Hyundai Staria VIP van: 6 seats, 2 large bags
- Premium SUV, such as a Chevrolet Tahoe: 6 seats, 4 large bags
- Hyundai H1 family van and GMC Yukon XL: 7 seats, 6 large bags
A four-seat car with room for two or three large bags suits a couple with one case each. The Staria seats six but carries only two large bags, so a group of friends each with a checked case may need an H1 or larger instead. Our guide to choosing a Jeddah airport taxi for seven passengers or more goes into larger parties, and the vehicle classes explained shows what each class looks like.
If you bought extra baggage after booking the car, the vehicle cannot be changed online. Contact the booking team, or make a new booking in the right class and request cancellation of the old one, bearing in mind the cancellation rules below.
If your flight is delayed, retimed or moved to another terminal
The flight time changes before you travel. Open your account and use “Request a new pickup time” on the paid booking, before the booked pickup time. Only one open request of each type is allowed per booking, and the message reads “Request received. It remains pending until the booking team approves it.” An approved new time carries a £5 rescheduling fee, converted into your booking currency (about SAR 25), which is added to the cash paid to the driver at pickup. A rejected request costs nothing.
The terminal changes. Update the booking team with the new terminal as soon as the airline tells you, so it reaches the driver.
The flight is delayed on the day. Contact the booking team with the new landing time. Remember that your paid waiting allowance is counted from the booked pickup time, so a long delay may not be covered by the minutes you booked.
Only the time can be changed online. The pickup place, destination, number of passengers and vehicle need the booking team, or a new booking plus a cancellation request.
Payment, deposit and the booking rules
Jeddah Cabs may take only a deposit online: 30% for a single journey, 40% for a multi-leg booking and 50% for a return. The balance is paid in cash directly to the driver, and checkout shows both amounts. Your account later shows the line “Cash due to driver” in the booking currency. You can view prices in 13 currencies, including SAR, GBP, EUR and USD; our note on paying for a Jeddah airport taxi in pounds, riyals or another currency explains the display options.
The rules that apply to every Terminal 4 pickup:
- Online bookings need at least 48 hours’ notice before the pickup time.
- Each journey has a minimum booking value equivalent to £40.
- Payment secures a provisional request. The status should update within 1 to 12 hours, and the journey is booked only when it reads Confirmed.
- Bookings are subject to our cancellation terms (free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before pickup; inside 48 hours the deposit element of the price is kept) if you cancel. If we or the transport partner cancel, or cannot supply the journey and you do not accept a suitable alternative, you receive a full refund for the affected journey. The full wording is in the Saudi Cab Co cancellation and refund policy.
If you are booking for someone else, checkout asks for the traveller’s name, the traveller’s phone and an emergency contact. The basket can also email a secure review link, so the traveller can check the flight number and terminal before you pay.
Worked example: the Mirza family land at Terminal 4
Sana Mirza is flying into Jeddah on an international low-cost airline with her husband Kamran, her mother Rukhsana and their daughter Aliya, who is four. Their e-ticket shows arrival at Terminal 4 at 22:40. They are heading to a city hotel, and Sana books eleven days ahead.
Terminal. Sana opens the airline app and sees “Terminal 4”. An older confirmation email from the travel agent says “South Terminal”. She knows from the airport’s release that this was the former name, but she messages the airline to be certain, and it confirms Terminal 4.
Passengers and bags. Three adults and one child, two large cases (they paid for them as extras), three cabin bags and a folding pushchair, entered as a cabin bag. She adds a child seat in the search. The results show Economy and larger classes. Because Rukhsana walks slowly and the hour is late, Sana chooses Business and Executive, which carries three large bags and includes 30 minutes of free waiting.
Pickup time. Sana does not book 22:40. She thinks about the arrivals path, her mother’s pace, a queue at passport control and a wait at the belt, and books a later time that fits her own judgement. She then adds 30 minutes of paid extra waiting at checkout, so the driver’s instructions show 60 minutes from the booked time (30 free and 30 extra, paid).
Booking notes. “Terminal 4 (former South Terminal), [airline name], flight [number]. Elderly passenger, walks slowly. Child seat added. Kamran’s phone will be on at landing.” She gives Kamran’s number as the traveller’s phone.
Payment. Checkout shows the deposit for a single journey and the cash balance for the driver. She pays the deposit and watches the account until the status reads Confirmed.
Three days before. The airline moves the flight to 23:25. Sana requests a new pickup time in her account. It is approved, and the £5 fee, shown in her booking currency, is added to the cash they will hand the driver.
On the night. Kamran messages the driver from baggage claim and shares his live location, and the family meet the car where the driver describes.
Jeddah Airport Terminal 4 as the start of a longer trip
Not everyone landing at Terminal 4 is staying in Jeddah. The same booking pattern applies to longer journeys: in our live route checks, Jeddah Airport to the InterContinental in Taif was about 197 km, and Jeddah Airport to Yanbu about 323 km. There, a later pickup time and extra waiting matter even more. Our guides to Jeddah Airport to Taif by taxi and to which part of Yanbu you are going to cover those routes.
Checklist for a Jeddah Airport Terminal 4 arrival
- Confirm the arrival terminal in your airline’s app or confirmation, and again a few days before you fly.
- Treat “South Terminal” on older documents as the former name of Terminal 4, but follow your airline’s latest notice.
- Book at least 48 hours before the pickup time.
- Search from King Abdulaziz International Airport and check the destination in the route summary.
- Enter your real passengers, large bags, cabin bags and any child seat or wheelchair need.
- Set the pickup time after landing, allowing for immigration, baggage and customs.
- Add paid extra waiting at checkout if the arrival is late, busy or with family.
- Give the flight number at checkout and write “Terminal 4”, the airline and practical needs in the notes.
- Wait for the status to read Confirmed, and read the driver-assigned email when it arrives.
- If the flight time changes, request a new pickup time in your account straight away.
- Keep one phone switched on at landing, and share a live location if asked.
When your flight details are settled, open the Jeddah Cabs transfer finder, search from King Abdulaziz International Airport to your hotel or address, and add your Terminal 4 flight number and notes at checkout. Jeddah Cabs takes a deposit online and the balance is paid in cash to your driver, so the checkout shows you both amounts before you confirm.
