If you are landing at Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport and travelling on to Yanbu, the most important decision is not the vehicle. It is the exact destination. “Yanbu” covers two quite different places: the older coastal town of Yanbu Al-Bahr, where most hotels, the historic quarter and the waterfront are, and Yanbu Industrial City, a planned industrial and residential city managed by the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu. A Jeddah Airport to Yanbu taxi can take you to either, but only if the request names the real address, and, for workplaces or residential compounds, the entrance your host expects you to use.
This guide is for travellers starting at Jeddah Airport. It explains how to identify the right Yanbu destination, when a private transfer is the sensible choice, what to prepare for a long drive after a flight, and how the Jeddah Cabs booking works for this route. If you are starting from a hotel or office in Jeddah rather than the airport, the planning is different; this article does not cover it.
How far it is, in plain terms
This is a long intercity transfer, not a hop across the city. The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu describes Yanbu Industrial City as about 350 km north-west of Jeddah. When we checked a live Jeddah Cabs route from the airport to a hotel in Yanbu Al-Bahr on 24 September 2026, the road distance was about 320 km.
We do not publish a fixed driving time, because traffic leaving Jeddah, stops and road conditions vary. Plan it as a drive of several hours, and do not book an appointment in Yanbu that depends on arriving by a particular minute after landing.
Two Yanbus: why the destination matters
Yanbu Al-Bahr is the historic port town on the coast. It has the older quarter, the corniche and beaches, and most of the hotels leisure visitors choose. The Holiday Inn Yanbu, which appears in the Jeddah Cabs planner as a popular location, is in Yanbu Al-Bahr.
Yanbu Industrial City (often called Yanbu Al-Sinaiyah) is, in the Royal Commission’s words, the second industrial city it manages. The Royal Commission’s Yanbu page describes it as home to the largest oil export port on the Red Sea coast and the western terminus of the Kingdom’s crude oil and gas pipelines, alongside residential neighbourhoods with healthcare, education and leisure facilities. Many business travellers, contractors and families of residents are heading here rather than to the old town.
The two are separate places some distance apart. A transfer booked to “Yanbu” and set down in the wrong one leaves you with another journey to arrange at the end of a long day. So before you search, answer one question: what is the exact address where this journey should finish?
Finding the exact destination
A hotel
Use the hotel’s own name and address as it appears on your reservation. If you are staying at the Holiday Inn Yanbu, choose it from the popular locations in the planner. For any other hotel, type its exact name and select the matching result, then check the address shown in the route summary. A residential compound or private home
Ask your host for the full address and the gate or entrance that visitors should use. Residential compounds often have a gatehouse where visitors are checked in. A transfer takes you to the gate; it does not arrange entry. If a visitor pass or pre-registration is needed, your host has to set that up.
A workplace, plant or port facility
This is where most misdirected journeys happen. A company’s registered address, its main office and the visitor entrance to a site can all be different. Ask your host or the site’s security office:
- which address and gate visitors arriving by car should use;
- whether your name must be registered in advance, and what identification to carry;
- whether the driver will be allowed to wait or must leave after drop-off.
You do not need to share confidential details of your visit to book transport. The request needs the destination, the arrival instructions and a contact number, not your meeting agenda.
If you only have a district name
A district, industrial zone or “near the port” is not enough for a driver to finish the journey. Keep asking until you have a place you can select on a map, or a pin your host has sent you. The Jeddah Cabs planner accepts an exact address or place for the destination and lets you check the pin on a map.

Check the route summary before you add the journey
After you search, the planner shows a route summary with the pickup and destination names. Read the destination line. For a leisure stay it should name your hotel and, usually, Yanbu Al-Bahr. For a work or residential address it should match what your host gave you. If the summary shows a similarly named place, a city centre, or the wrong side of Yanbu, go back and correct the destination now. Changing a destination after payment is a change request that has to be accepted, and it can change the price.
Private transfer, flight or coach?
A private transfer is not the only way to reach Yanbu, and it is worth being honest about when it is the right choice.
- Flying to Yanbu. Yanbu has its own domestic airport. If your journey allows a connection to Yanbu rather than landing at Jeddah, compare the total travel time and baggage allowance with a road transfer. That is a different trip, with a different airport pickup.
- Intercity coach. Intercity coach operators, including SAPTCO, serve Yanbu. Check the operator’s current timetable, where the coach departs from, and how you will get from the coach station in Yanbu to your final address.
- Private transfer from the airport. This is usually the better fit when you land late or at an awkward hour; when you have several people, a lot of luggage or equipment; when your destination is a compound, site or home rather than a central stop; or when you simply want to go straight from the arrivals hall to the door.
Your flight details
Because the journey starts at the airport, the booking is built around your arrival.
- Use the final flight that lands at Jeddah. If you connect elsewhere first, the first flight on the ticket is not the one that matters.
- Check the terminal. Jeddah’s airport runs several passenger buildings, and airlines are assigned to them. Your airline itinerary or the KAIA website will say which one you land at; check again a day or two before you fly.
- Set the pickup time in Saudi local time (UTC+3), based on your scheduled landing.
- Enter the flight number exactly as it appears on your airline booking when checkout asks for it.

Waiting after you land
Between touchdown and the kerb come passport control, the baggage belt and a long walk. Jeddah Cabs fares build in a free waiting period for that, counted from the pickup time you booked. Jeddah Cabs bookings sit under the Saudi Cab Co network policy; its terms allow fair, disclosed charges once the free period runs out. The search results do not yet display the free period, so have the booking team confirm it if a late landing is likely.
The allowance depends on the vehicle class. In live quotes for this route on 24 September 2026:

Treat these as figures at the time of checking; the booking team’s confirmation for your journey is the final word. If your flight is late, change the pickup time in your booking as soon as the airline tells you, instead of letting paid waiting build up.
Choosing a vehicle for a long drive
Put in the true number of travellers and bags, including cabin bags. Results are filtered to vehicles that can carry that load, so what you see depends on what you enter. In our check, two adults with two large cases saw the full range of classes, while six adults with six large cases saw only seven-seat and larger vehicles.
On a drive of several hours, space matters more than on a short city transfer. Consider a class with some room to spare if you have bulky items, work equipment or children who need seats. Ask for child seats or wheelchair space in the planner; they are then checked against the vehicle assigned. Arriving late at night
Many flights into Jeddah land late in the evening or in the early hours. A long road transfer at the end of that day is tiring, so plan for it:
- Tell your hotel or host that you will arrive late. Late check-in is the hotel’s arrangement, not something the transfer can confirm.
- Keep a charged phone and a working number for the lead traveller, so the driver can reach you after landing.
- Keep water and anything you need for the journey in your cabin bag, not in the hold luggage.
- If someone in the party needs a break on the way for a practical reason, say so in the request so it can be considered when the journey is reviewed.
Colleagues or family on different flights
If two people are travelling to the same Yanbu address but landing at different times, the destination is shared but the pickups are not. Each arrival has its own landing time and possibly its own terminal. Unless the flights land close together, two airport journeys are usually more practical than one vehicle waiting for hours, because once the free waiting period ends, every further minute has a price. Search each arrival separately and compare the total with one larger vehicle timed to the later flight.
Stops along the way
The planner lets you add stops in journey order, for example to collect a colleague at a Jeddah address before heading north. Each stop is part of the route and may change the price. A stop is for a specific purpose at a specific place; it is not an open-ended detour. If what you really want is a day in Jeddah before continuing, book it as two journeys, and see splitting a stay between Jeddah and Yanbu.
Two worked examples
A contractor starting work in Yanbu Industrial City. Arrives on an evening flight, travelling alone with one large case and a laptop bag. His employer’s accommodation is inside a residential compound. He asks HR for the compound’s exact address and the visitors’ gate, and confirms his name is on the gate list. He books an airport pickup at his landing time with the compound gate as the destination, names himself as lead contact with a working roaming number, and keeps HR’s phone number to hand for the gatehouse.
A couple on a coastal break. Landing mid-afternoon with two large cases, staying four nights at the Holiday Inn Yanbu. They select the hotel from the popular locations, check that the route summary shows Yanbu Al-Bahr, and book a one-way arrival. They leave the return open until their plans are settled. Paying and confirmation
Checkout creates a request that still has to be matched with a driver. Expect a status update within about half a day, and treat the transfer as booked only once it shows Confirmed. For a long intercity journey, do that check before you fly.
For Jeddah Cabs bookings, checkout may ask you to pay part of the fare online, with the balance paid to your driver in cash. The checkout review shows the exact amount due now and the amount due to the driver, so read it before you pay.
If plans change, remember that a booking you cancel yourself is subject to our cancellation terms (free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before pickup; inside 48 hours the deposit element of the price is kept), so ask for a new pickup time where you can; you are refunded in full if we or the transport partner cancel. The journey back
The return to Jeddah Airport is a separate journey from your Yanbu address. Set its pickup time by working back from your airline’s check-in and bag-drop deadlines, then add a generous margin for the long drive. The pickup point matters as much as the drop-off did. If you are staying inside a residential compound or leaving from a work site, ask your host whether an arriving car can come through the gate to collect you, or whether you should meet the driver at the gatehouse, and enter that exact place as the pickup. A driver who cannot get past security cannot reach a door on the other side of it.

What the transfer does not include
- Entry to a compound, workplace or port facility; that is arranged by your host.
- A guided visit, a heritage tour or a marine activity; for the old town, see giving Yanbu heritage a separate outing.
- A vehicle kept at your disposal after drop-off, unless that is separately agreed.
- A guaranteed arrival time for a fixed appointment.
Checklist before you search
- Final flight into Jeddah: number, date, scheduled landing (Saudi time) and terminal.
- Destination type: hotel, compound, private home or workplace.
- Exact address, map pin and, for sites and compounds, the visitor gate.
- Any gate list, visitor pass or ID your host needs.
- Adults, children, infants, large cases, cabin bags and bulky items.
- Any stop you genuinely need on the way.
- Lead traveller and a number that works in Saudi Arabia.
- How you will make the return journey, even if you book it later.
