teamLab Jeddah, officially teamLab Borderless Jeddah, is a permanent digital art museum in Jeddah Historic District, beside Lake Al-Arbaeen, which opened on 10 June 2024. To get there by taxi, buy your museum ticket first through the official ticket site, then book a journey from your hotel to the museum by name, and book the return as a separate journey from the point you will leave from. The ticket and the transport are two different things, and the visit runs most smoothly when each is confirmed before the day.
This guide is for visitors staying in Jeddah hotels, families, and groups who want to fit teamLab Borderless into a stay without guessing at the logistics. It covers what the official sources say about the museum, how tickets and transport fit together, how to choose a drop-off and a pickup in a historic district, how long to allow, and how the Jeddah Cabs booking rules apply to a ticketed attraction in Jeddah by taxi. There is a worked example and a checklist at the end.

What teamLab Borderless Jeddah is
The art collective’s own page for teamLab Borderless Jeddah describes it as “a museum without a map”, a continuous space where visitors wander, explore and discover artworks that move between rooms. It lists the location as Culture Square in Jeddah Historic District and gives the opening date as 10 June 2024. The collection mixes permanent works with seasonal ones that change through the year, and the venue includes a Tea House and a Sketch Factory. teamLab also offers a mobile app for visitors.
The Saudi Press Agency adds more detail. Its report on the opening says the museum covers about 10,000 square metres near Lake Al-Arbaeen, with views towards the UNESCO World Heritage site and the Red Sea coast, and that it is a collaboration between the Saudi Ministry of Culture and teamLab. A later SPA report describes it as permanently located on the banks of Lake Al-Arbaeen, with about 80 independent and interconnected works, and notes that it was the first teamLab museum in the Middle East.
For planning, three points follow. It is a permanent venue, so the address will not move between visits. It sits inside Historic Jeddah, not on the seafront or in a mall. And its size and design encourage you to wander, so the length of a visit is hard to predict.
Tickets first, transport second
An easy mistake with any ticketed attraction in Jeddah by taxi is booking the car first and the ticket later. Do it the other way round.
Where to buy
teamLab’s official page links to its ticket site for Jeddah. When we checked, the ticket site listed a standard single pass, a fast track pass offering skip-the-line access and priority entry to all rooms, and group, school and corporate options. The fast track pass was described as suitable for all ages above four. Prices and conditions can change, so check them on the official site when you buy. Avoid resellers you cannot verify.
What to check on your ticket
Before you book any car, read your ticket confirmation for:
- The date, and whether the ticket carries an entry time or entry window.
- Any rule about arriving late, if an entry time is shown.
- Age rules for children in your party.
- Instructions for arrival, such as which entrance to use.
If your ticket shows an entry time, that time sets your journey. If it does not, you have more freedom, but it still helps to plan an arrival time so the day has a shape.
The ticket is not transport
A teamLab ticket covers entry to the museum. It does not include a car. Equally, a Jeddah Cabs journey takes you to the museum; it does not include entry. Our article on reading the transport line in an experience booking explains how to check which part of an outing each confirmation actually covers.
teamLab Borderless Jeddah transport: the journey there
Good teamLab Borderless Jeddah transport starts with a destination the driver can use.
Enter the museum by name
Type “teamLab Borderless Jeddah” into the Jeddah transfer finder and read the route summary. Make sure the pin sits in Historic Jeddah near Lake Al-Arbaeen, not at an office, a shop or a similarly named place elsewhere. If the name does not resolve cleanly, use the museum’s address from your ticket or a named landmark close by.
Choose a pickup time with a margin
We do not quote journey times, because traffic in Jeddah varies widely by time of day and day of the week. If your ticket carries an entry time, work back from it and leave a comfortable margin for traffic and for the walk from the drop-off to the door. Arriving early and waiting a few minutes is much better than arriving late for a timed entry.
Use the notes
The booking notes are the place to write “visiting teamLab Borderless Jeddah, please set down at the nearest safe point to the entrance” or “one passenger uses a wheelchair”. The notes help the driver, but they are not a promise of where a car can stop. Stopping around busy venues and historic streets is managed on the day, so plan for a short walk.
Book ahead
Online bookings need at least 48 hours’ notice before pickup. That fits naturally with buying a museum ticket in advance. Paying secures a provisional request; the booking team updates the status within 1 to 12 hours, and the journey is booked only when your account shows Confirmed.
How long to allow inside
teamLab describes the museum as a place to wander without a map, and SPA counts about 80 works over roughly 10,000 square metres. Neither source gives a typical visit length, and we will not invent one. What we can say is that visitors who like to linger, photograph or revisit rooms will stay longer than those who walk through once.
A practical approach:
- Decide before you go if your group is the “see it once” kind or the “take our time” kind.
- Add time if you plan to use the Tea House or the Sketch Factory.
- Add more time for young children, who often want to repeat the rooms they enjoyed.
- Then choose a return time that you would be content with even if you finish early.
If you are travelling with people who move at different speeds, you can also split the group. Some may want a short visit and an early return to the hotel; others may want to stay until they have seen everything. Two return journeys at two different times can be kinder than one compromise time that suits nobody. Each is a separate booking with its own minimum value, so weigh that against the comfort of the slower group.
The journey back
A journey has one pickup place and one destination, and they must differ. So a teamLab visit is at least two journeys: hotel to museum, and museum area to hotel. The first driver does not wait through your visit unless waiting has been separately confirmed.
Where to be collected
If you are going straight back, book the return from the museum by name. If you plan to walk through Al-Balad afterwards, book it from where your walk will end, at a named place a car can reach. Our guide to visiting Al Balad Jeddah by taxi explains how drop-offs and pickups work in the historic district.
When to be collected
Pick a time that suits the kind of visit you planned. If you finish earlier, you can wait nearby. If you think you will want longer, you can request a later pickup time from your account before the original time. An approved change carries a £5 rescheduling fee, converted into your booking currency and added to the cash paid to the driver at pickup. A rejected request costs nothing.
Evening visits
If your visit ends in the evening, keep your phone charged and agree a named meeting point. Our article on planning the pickup after a late event in Jeddah covers meeting points and staying reachable in more detail.
Comparing ways to structure a teamLab Jeddah visit
This table compares three common plans for a teamLab Jeddah visit.
| Plan | Journeys | Suits | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| teamLab only | Hotel to museum; museum to hotel | Families with children, short stays | Choose a return time that fits your pace |
| teamLab and a walk in Al-Balad | Hotel to museum; walk end point to hotel | First-time visitors | The pickup is where the walk ends, not at the museum |
| teamLab, then dinner | Hotel to museum; museum to restaurant; restaurant to hotel | Couples and groups making an evening of it | Three journeys, each with its own time and minimum value |
Whichever you choose, every journey needs a named start and end. If you are adding a meal, our article on making the restaurant a real final stop explains why the restaurant, not “somewhere for dinner”, should be the destination.
Worked example: a family afternoon at teamLab
Sara and Daniel are staying in a Jeddah hotel with their two children, aged six and nine. They want to visit teamLab on a Friday afternoon.
They start on the official ticket site and buy tickets for the date they want. They read the confirmation for the date, any entry time and the arrival instructions, and check the age rules for the children.
Next they open the transfer finder. Two adults and two children, no large bags. They add a booster seat for the six-year-old. They enter their hotel as the pickup and teamLab Borderless Jeddah as the destination, check the pin sits by Lake Al-Arbaeen, and choose a pickup time that gets them there in good time for the start of their visit, with a margin for Friday traffic. In the notes they write: “Family visiting teamLab Borderless Jeddah; please set down at the nearest safe point to the entrance.”
They book the return from the museum to the hotel for three hours after their planned arrival, knowing children often want to repeat favourite rooms. Both journeys are booked four days ahead and read Confirmed the next morning. The checkout showed the deposit paid online and the cash balance for each driver, so Daniel sets the cash aside.
On the day, the children are tired after two hours. The family has a drink at the Tea House and meets the return driver at the agreed time. Nothing needed changing, because the return time was chosen with slack.
Wheelchairs, pushchairs and older relatives
An immersive museum can suit visitors of every age, but the journey around it needs a little extra thought when someone in the party has limited mobility.
Tell the transport side early
If anyone uses a wheelchair, add the wheelchair requirement in the search. It is then confirmed for the vehicle, so the car that arrives is suitable. If you are bringing a folding pushchair, count it as a large bag, because it needs boot space. Child seats (infant seat, child seat or booster) are added in the same way.
Ask the museum about access inside
Access inside the museum, including lifts, step-free routes, pushchair use and whether some rooms are dark or have sloping floors, is a question for the museum, not the transport provider. Ask through the official channels when you buy tickets, and keep the answer with your confirmation.
Plan the walk from the car
In a historic district, a car may not be able to stop right outside the entrance. Use the booking notes to explain the need, and ask the booking team before you book how close a vehicle can realistically get. For the return, choose a pickup point your relative can reach without a long walk, even if it means the rest of the party walks on ahead to a meeting point later.
Allow for rests
Older visitors and young children tire in different ways, but both benefit from a pause. The Tea House is one option inside. Outside, factor a rest into the return time rather than assuming everyone will leave the moment the visit ends.
Arriving in Jeddah on the same day
Some visitors land at King Abdulaziz International Airport and hope to fit teamLab in that afternoon. A journey can include up to eight stops in journey order, so a stop is technically possible, but luggage stays in the car and a delayed flight can wreck a fixed ticket. The calmer plan is to go to the hotel first, with a journey such as our Jeddah Airport to hotel transfer, and visit teamLab on another day, when you are rested and your bags are in your room.
Groups, schools and larger parties
Groups need more planning on both sides. teamLab’s ticket site lists group, school and corporate options, so start there. Then match the vehicle to the group.
The transfer finder only shows vehicle classes that pass the capacity check for your passengers and bags. As a guide, a Toyota Hiace seats 11, a Toyota Coaster minibus seats 19, and a coach seats 53 (examples “or similar”). A large vehicle may need to set down further from the entrance in a historic area, so allow for a longer walk and nominate one adult to lead the group from the vehicle to the museum door.
For school groups, share the plan with every adult: the drop-off point, the entry time, the pickup point and the pickup time. Our article on reading seats and bags in results helps when you are choosing between vehicle sizes.
Combining teamLab with other Historic Jeddah visits
teamLab is one of several cultural venues in Jeddah Historic District. If you want to add another, keep the visits separate enough that each gets proper attention. The Tariq Abdulhakim Center, a music museum in Al-Balad, is a very different kind of visit; our guide to the Tariq Abdulhakim Museum in Jeddah covers its own planning.
Two immersive or museum visits in one afternoon can be tiring, especially for children. A calmer plan is one main visit, a walk or a meal, and the journey home.
Booking rules that apply
A teamLab outing follows the same rules as every Jeddah Cabs journey:
- Minimum value. Each journey has a minimum booking value equivalent to £40, shown as a “Minimum booking amount” line if a fare would be lower.
- Payment. Jeddah Cabs may take a deposit online, with the balance paid in cash to the driver; the checkout shows both amounts.
- Changes. Only the pickup time can be changed online. The pickup place, destination, number of passengers and vehicle cannot; that needs the booking team, or a new booking plus a cancellation request.
- Cancellations. Bookings are subject to our cancellation terms (free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before pickup; inside 48 hours the deposit element of the price is kept) if you cancel. If we or the transport partner cancel, or cannot supply the journey, you receive a full refund for the affected journey. The Jeddah Cabs questions page explains how requests work.
This is the main reason to buy the museum ticket first. If the date you want is not available, you can change your plans before you have paid for a journey you no longer need.
